Workshop Overview This 3 - day workshop will teach participants how to identify woody plants when they lack leaves and flowers. The ability to make these identifications will help environmental professionals, academic researchers, and students accomplish their work and allow nature lovers to appreciate plant communities throughout the year. Plants will be studied in both the classroom and field. Instructor Dr. Jon M. Stucky has been on the Department of Plant Biology faculty at North Carolina State University (NCSU) for 34 years. He is a member of the NCSU Academy of Outstanding Teachers and has taught/co-taught NCSU courses titled Wetland Flora, Grasses/Sedges/Rushes, and Wetland Delineation, Assessment, and Regulation. Dr. Stucky has been teaching workshops on wetland plant identification, winter plant identification, and hydrophytic vegetation determination for 15 years. His research involves the floristics and conservation of wetlands and rare plant species conservation.
